Perhaps the best-known portrait of Douglass, used for the frontispiece of his third autobiography, "Life and Times of Frederick Douglass," published in 1881. It is listed in "Picturing Frederick Douglass" as image 96, with a circa 1879 date, although the 19th-century label on verso reads "Fred'k Douglasss, Colored Lecturer &c, 1874."
